Saturday 15 October, 2011, 7.30pm Vivaldi Gloria Purcell Trumpet Overture ’ The Indian Queen’ Bach Jesu, joy of man’s desiring (Cantata no. 147) Vivaldi Autumn (The Four Seasons) Bach / Gavotte for Bach Williams Bourrée for Bach Vivaldi Gloria Leo Byrne, violin Patricia Heyes, Barbara Ruzsics, sopranos Cantata Choir Richard Lea, director Cathedral Orchestra Stephen Pratt, conductor Vivaldi’s majestic Gloria is accompanied by other Baroque favourites, including ‘Jesu’, joy of man’s desiring’ and two ‘Swingle’ arrangements of Bach. There will be more baroque music, including Bach’s Magnificat, on 25th February, 2012.

Moseley Hungarian Soldiers Songs (British première) There will also be two world premières of works for chorus by the Liverpool composers Daniel Rathbone and Michael Stubbs. This sparkling music, including Rodrigo’s ever popular Guitar Concerto and 3 delightful operetta arias is given in the presence of the Papal Nuncio. The Herald Angels Sing”.
